I am a fully qualified and experienced psychodynamic counsellor and I offer either time limited (up to 12 sessions) or open ended ongoing counselling/psychotherapy.
I have worked for several years with people suffering with addiction, depression and problems relating to anger management, all of which will affect your day to day life and impact upon your relationships and this may become too difficult to manage alone.
People seek counselling for many reasons, you may have difficulties in either a past or current relationship. It may be with a partner or family member or perhaps a work colleague. Counselling can help you to understand why you choose the same type of partner or relationship that is unfulfilling or destructive.
You may have suffered a loss or bereavement which can bring about a wide range of feelings that feel confusing and difficult to make sense of.
As well as the before mentioned I also can help with any relationship difficulties, family breakdown, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of anger, isolation, loneliness, difficulty coping with loss or change, work stress, bullying, self-harm, sexuality, sexual or emotional abuse.
Counselling offers a safe environment to talk about any worries and concerns that you may have in a confidential and non judgemental environment. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, based on the principle that your current difficulties and ways of relating to others may be affected by earlier experiences/relationships in your life.
Through exploration we can uncover how your unconscious thoughts and feelings have an effect on you and your life today and how they may be contributing to any difficulties you are currently experiencing. With greater self awareness and understanding comes the ability to make different choices and help change unhelpful patterns of behaviour allowing for new possibilities to emerge.
If you are undecided about counselling or have any questions please feel free to either call or email me and I shall respond to you as soon as I can.
