About me

There’s a good chance you’re looking at this profile because you’ve had, or having, a life issues you want to resolve. That could be that you’ve been hurt or simply found yourself disconnected from others.

It might be that you’re reading this because some of those issues are become too hard for you to handle on your own and that talking to someone who isn’t involved with you personally is something that you really feel you need.

I’m sure you had a sense of being overwhelmed when you don’t have a full understanding of why you repeat patterns, which have been unhelpful for you, often which you established in early life, as a way of coping, but now they’ve become a problem.

What kind of therapy do you offer?

My therapeutic approach is Humanistic, fundamentally, I don’t see the use of a diagnosis or group of diagnosis but as a whole complete person, who has a problem; you’re not an issue with the person attached.

Because of that individual approach, I believe that you have the resourcefulness inside you to have a happy and fulfilled life. I also believe that because you are an individual, and therapy has to be tailored for you; I don’t believe in a one size fits all type of therapy.

In our work together, we worked in collaboration. We will help you enhance your inner knowingness, decreasing your sense of being swept away by life events, increasing your ability to make lasting changes in your life.

I understand that some problems do not require a large amount of work; this does not involve looking at your past rather the here and now of life circumstances. I work hard with you to distinguish between the different types of concerns that you have a tailored therapy to suit these.

Do I really have to have something wrong with me to come to therapy?

Often people will go to therapy because they’ve reached an impasse in their life; this is stuckness about everything they do. Coming to therapy can often help you acknowledge certain aspects of your life that you would gain great insight from if you were to look at these with a new light.

All About Me?

My passion is for people to reach their full potential. Experience has found that individuals are often locked for years in a cycle of destructive thoughts and actions.
What gives me the utmost satisfaction is seeing the client freed from these cycles and fully able to have a full life.
As the great man, Thomas Dreier once said: “If ever we are to enjoy life, now is the time, not tomorrow or next year... today should always be the most wonderful day”.
I believe this to be true, helping people live for today is what started me on my journey to become a counsellor/psychotherapist.
I work to enhance and expand people’s ability to experience a deeper connection with themselves and others. The connection is the key to physical, mental, and broader well-being, throughout therapy and counselling, I help people in the desire to choose to close the gap between themselves and where they are right now and where they want to be.

I have spent my professional life learning and searching for the root causes of human suffering and the issues that bring people into counselling and therapy, as well as the most effective and efficient ways to help them. To this end, I use proven treatment modalities as well as the latest research on cutting edge techniques.

I believe there is no such thing as a normal problem or issue. I consider that we hold within us, uniquely different life experience. That is why, for me, the connection with the client is paramount.

As a Registered Accredited member of the BACP, I work within a strict ethical code. I currently hold an enhanced C.R.B and have undertaken safeguard children training. As a therapist, I carry public liability insurance, and furthermore, my work is overseen by regular supervision.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
