About me

COVID-19: I have resumed face to face consultations in Canary Wharfs. I currently have availability for both in person and online therapy.

For Individuals:

A range of difficulties and experiences can affect anyone’s physical and mental wellbeing. Work related stress, relationship tensions, financial and health issues can impact on people’s ability to live at their full potential. Often these factors elicit or contribute to low mood, generalised anxiety, extensive worries and a range of other psychological disorders. At times difficulties are rooted in childhood and people might feel stuck in their past or unable to lead their life towards a meaningful direction.

Past experiences or more recent events can hold us back and the support of family and friends is not always sufficient to help us move forwards or find more helpful ways to cope.

For couples:

Relationships can offer fulfillment and happiness, yet they can also turn into a source of frustration, anxiety and disappointment. Couples can experience difficulties in their communication, in their intimacy or in recovering from ruptures of their bond, following affairs, debts or losses.

At times couples choose to end the relationship and want to pursue this while minimising the conflicts.

My Approach

I am a chartered clinical psychologist, trained at a doctoral level to deliver a safe, reliable and effective psychological therapy. With an extensive experience in using talking therapy, I can offer you a space to reflect on what troubles you and find a way forward.

I work predominately from a CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) perspective. However, I tend to integrate this approach with other therapy models, most frequently EMDR, according to your difficulties and goals. I am keen on maintaining a flexible approach, where we collaborate and tailor the pace of our work on your needs and circumstances. Therapy can help you develop an understanding of your thinking and behavioural patterns and support you in adopting more helpful coping styles. Together we can find alternative ways to deal with your problematic life circumstances and pursue emotional wellbeing.

Psychological therapy can also help you achieve a better understanding of yourself and explore why, even when things seem to be in the right place, you might feel unsatisfied or disconnected.

When working with couple, my aim is not to resolve the couple’s issues: the priority is to highlight the relational patterns underpinning some of the difficulties and to develop more effective alternatives. Therapy allows couples to strengthen their ability to connect and repair.

Our First Session

We will use the first session to discuss your current difficulties and your expectations for therapy. It will be an opportunity to assess whether we can work well together and whether my approach suits your needs for therapy. If you are not happy or sure, there is no obligation to take treatment forward any further.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked in a variety of Mental Health settings within the NHS and, alongside my private practise, I am currently working in a MAP (Mood, Anxiety and Personality Disorder) Service in East London.

I have completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London (UCL) and I am registered with the Health & Care Professional Council (HCPC). I am also a Cognitive Behavioural therapist, accredited by the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and am guided and abide by their professional practice guidelines.

Following my Doctorate, I pursued further training: I am a fully trained EMDR practitioner and have completed an Advanced Diploma in Couples Therapy.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
