About me

My name is Tina and I am a qualified counsellor based in Dromore, Co Down.

I am a qualified counsellor a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (NCS).

My counselling style is based on an integrated approach which means quite simply I put your needs first. People come to counselling for a variety of different reasons, it may be you are facing a life-changing event, experiencing shock or grief, feeling depressed, anxious or isolated without really understanding why. Alternatively, you may be feeling your life has no direction leading you to feel confused or trapped.   These are many different reasons you may be seeking counselling in order to address issues which are keeping you stuck.

I will not judge you I will work with you with the aim of resolving these issues. As a counsellor, I am committed to putting your needs first.

Therapeutically I work with techniques from Person Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Existential therapy. Following an initial assessment, I will work with you to choose the right counselling model and techniques to support your goals.

I have been working with people in distress since 1987. I have significant experience of dealing within the areas of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, bullying at work and issues encountered by members of the LGBTQ community.

I specialise in:

Counselling people for issues which arise from the workplace which is impacting on their wellbeing. Counselling can help people understand these conflicts, achieve a greater balance or reach career decisions. I truly believe in employee wellbeing processes as being a key success factor in employee engagement and productivity.

Counselling persons within the transgender community who are are starting or engaged in their personal journey often in preparation for the decisions which are involved and the challenges they face in becoming their true self.

Counselling Young people aged between 16-19 who may be experiencing stress from examinations, challenges over issues in their family units or suffering following a traumatic or significant event which may have happened or may be anticipated.

As a counsellor, I believe the therapeutic relationship formed with my clients is the basis to their conditions improving. As Carl Rogers (Person Centred Therapy) stated:

'Individuals have within themselves vast resources for self-understanding, for altering their self-concept, attitudes and self-directed behaviour.  If these resources can be tapped a definable climate of facilitative psychological attitudes can be provided'.

I am primarily based in the Dromore, Banbridge, Lisburn area. However, our telephone and on line-services mean distance is no barrier to accessing our counselling.

My BACP membership number is 776175 and my National Counselling Society number is 17-05640
