Anxiety, low moods, angry outbursts and high levels of stress are often signs that life feels difficult to manage.
The causes for such distressing feelings and behaviors can be varied but often are linked to changes, losses and trauma that are difficult to accept and live with.
These changes are often outside one’s control and can affect our work, families or wider circumstances.
A loss can be through the death of a loved one, illness, redundancy or the end of a relationship.
However, the difficulties may stem from childhood or trauma inflicted by others in the form of violence, abuse or other forms of mistreatment.
Talking to an empathic professional can be a relief and make a big difference in making sense of life events and processing distressing and traumatic experiences.
Counselling and therapy helps gain new perspectives and a deeper understanding and positive feelings about oneself. Depending on the issues, short term counseling or longer term psychotherapy may be recommended.
I have over 25 years experience and training in counselling and psychotherapy, and see adults, couples, children and young people and their parents in my private practice.
I have had special training in working safely with complex trauma, including childhood trauma.
I see every person as unique and draw on a wide range of therapeutic approaches to best help the client in their particular circumstances and concerns.
In my work with children I use creative and play therapy.
