Dr. Timothy Mahy
La Nouvelle Maraitaine
I'm a Guernsey based Chartered Psychologist and HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist experienced in delivering interventions to help my clients change their health behaviours, with experience gained working in the NHS, within Charities, and in Private Practice.
I work collaboratively with my clients in Guernsey and Online (via Skype) to achieve their goals. I am passionate about finding the right way to help each client and use a variety of evidence-based methods in pursuit of the best course of treatment and support.
The model I predominantly use is the scientifically evidence-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help people with a broad array of reporting issues. I use an integrative approach and have trained in motivational interviewing, solution focussed therapy, hypnotherapy, mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and CBT-I. As a passionate psychologist I am constantly striving to enhance my knowledge and skills, and regularly engage in further trainings and continued professional development.
My main specialities are the use of gut-focussed hypnotherapy for IBS. This is a fortnightly session where we meet 7 times. The first session is approximately an hour long, and the following six sessions last approximately 30 minutes. This is an extraordinarily effective treatment suitable for anyone suffering with IBS. It can be delivered online very effectively if required.
I have also trained in an exciting new method that can help to dissolve anxieties effectively. This is extremely effective in helping to shift stubborn phobias, and anxieties. It is also great for people with generalised anxiety disorder (GAD). Delivered either face to face, or online, some anxieties can be significantly improved within just a single session. Others, such as GAD, require more sessions depending on the number of anxieties present. This method is being introduced within the NHS and there are only a handful of people in the world trained to deliver this groundbreaking intervention.
Online therapies for IBS, anxieties, and phobias can be booked online through my website.
Online therapies are ideal for people who want to access support from the comfort of their own home. This can be someone who's life gets in the way of accessing support, who live too far away from support, or who do not feel comfortable leaving the home.
Using some modern methods I can support you to make real change. I use a new, rapid, therapy for phobias, panic disorder, and anxiety. These can be significantly improved, or resolved, within just 1 or 2 sessions. I use a similar method for generalised anxiety disorder, although as this is a more complex condition more sessions will often be required. Anger management is often effectively treated within just 1-3 sessions, depending on the complexity.
Furthermore, gut-focused hypnotherapy can be delivered online, and in the past this therapy has been extremely effective. It can deliver significant improvements to your quality of life. It may seem odd getting support from a psychologist for IBS but surely it's worth a shot?
More traditional psychotherapy, using modern methods, is also accessible online and using acceptance and commitment therapy I can help people with chronic pain, depression, or a variety of psychological concerns.
