About me

I offer psychodynamic counselling to help with emotional problems that may be troubling you. I am a professionally qualified, experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, offering time-limited and longer term therapy. I am based in Cambridge and in Grays Inn Road WC1 in Central London. The counselling I offer provides a calm and supportive space in which you can explore what is troubling you, without fear of being judged or criticized. You will then be able to gain greater insight and understanding of the thoughts, beliefs and behaviours that affect your life and relationships.

How Counselling can help

The type of therapy I provide is psychodynamic psychotherapy, which is based on the principle that past experiences and events can influence how we feel and function in the present. Working with a trained psychotherapist offers an opportunity to grow and change in ways you might not be able to achieve on your own or with friends and family. The personal growth that may take place in therapy can free you from the limitations of old patterns. This allows more realistic and effective ways for improving the quality of your life, your relationships and how you feel about yourself.

There are many different reasons why people may want to consult a counsellor. The kinds of emotional issues that people often seek help with include:

  • Feeling stressed and anxious (eg panic attacks).
  • Coming to terms with losses such as bereavement, divorce or redundancy.
  • Unable to make or sustain relationships.
  • Difficulties at work or with friends or family.
  • Confused, feeling low, lacking self-esteem, or having feelings of not being able to achieve.
  • Confusion with issues around identity and sexuality.
  • Destructive patterns of behaviour with alcohol, drugs, food, money, self-harming.

If you are experiencing difficulties such as these, you may find counselling helpful.

The First Steps

Making the decision and taking the first step to look for a psychotherapist can seem difficult, and it is important that you find a counsellor you feel comfortable with. After an initial phone conversation we would arrange a first appointment, where you can ask questions and explore how psychotherapy could help you. If we decide to continue we would arrange a mutually convenient time for regular sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at WPF therapy, one of the leading psychodynamic and psychoanalytic training organisations in the UK. I have an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies from WPF Therapy, London, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Roehampton University.

I am a registered professional member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and I work to their professional Code of Ethics and Practice.

In addition to my private practice, I also work as a therapist with an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) organisation.
