How I work
I am an integrative therapist, highly skilled in several models of counselling\psychotherapy in which I have trained in to meet clients specific needs. Each person is different , therefore no one therapy suits every individual .My underlying philosophy is person centred, offering a warm non-judgemental, empathic and honest relationship which encourages clients to explore and make sense of difficult feelings and experiences. This then helps them develop greater insight into the issues they bring and discover new ways of dealing with them.
My aim is to listen and work in such a way that offers understanding support and integrity and goes at the clients pace.At the beginning of therapy we explore your needs and the ways we could work together that you may find of most benefit and our approach is mutually agreed.
The therapeutic models I draw from are:
-Person centred art therapy skills
-CFD (counselling for depression) recommended by the Department of Health's NICE guidelines as evidence based treatment for depression
What clients have gained.
Clients I have seen have experienced improvements in their relationships with others and have been able to understand their feelings better. They have gained more self confidence and self esteem. It can be quite difficult to talk about feelings to those closest to us . Some clients have spoken about things in sessions that they have never shared with anyone else.
Clients have spoken about extremely painful experiences and through exploration have been able to look at things from a different perspective and been able to move to a position of still remembering what has happened but feeling less raw, less trapped and more hopeful.
Clients have gained realisations about themselves in relation to themselves and others and made positive changes. Other clients have regained their own self worth and in some cases a reason to carry on living.

I have also previously worked as an NHS counselling service manager for 13 years and a nurse psychotherapist in a psychotherapeutic programme at Cheadle Royal hospital for 7 years. I have also worked in the voluntary sector and NHS as a young persons counsellor. I have also previously taught counselling at Diploma level at Manchester Metropolitan University.
