I am a UKCP registered Systemic, Couple and Family Psychotherapist and a qualified systemic supervisor.
What to expect
My many years of experience in helping people to overcome difficulties enables me to work towards change quite quickly. I offer sessions for individuals, couples and families where an atmosphere of safety and trust enables people to explore challenges in their lives. A systemic approach builds on the existing strengths and resources which people have. It enables people to think differently about themselves, their concerns and worries in a way which helps solutions to emerge which make sense within their own unique lives.
My specialist approach is highly successful in helping people with relationship difficulties. Sometimes these problems can be longstanding such as in families with adult children where difficulties from childhood or adolescence have not been resolved. Sometimes a workplace situation causes people to be distressed or a couple is not functioning in a way which enables them both to thrive. I see people who are facing all sorts of challenges and who may be experiencing symptoms such as anxiety or depression. Sometimes symptoms appear for no particular reason and psychotherapy can be a way to explore what may be going on.
People come to see me on their own quite frequently as they are looking for a confidential space to talk about issues. Sometimes people are seen individually as a part of couple therapy or family therapy. I am registered to work with children and young people and I am very experienced in helping young people to make sense of aspects of their lives which trouble them. I am skilled in enabling people to build the skills they need for more fulfilling lives. This may be better communication or paying more attention to their own well being. Sometimes changes in behaviour are necessary and I help people to work towards change in a way that makes sense.
Coaching for Change
Alongside my psychotherapy practice I have a life coaching practice. I work alongside people to reach their goals whether these are connected to work ambitions, relationship aspirations or lifestyle changes. Sometimes coaching can be helpful in defining which are the goals that should be prioritised.
I have a warm, empathic style and a level of skill which encourages people to be hopeful about their futures.
I take private referrals and am also registered with Cigna and AVIVA
