Tess Keeble UKCP Registered Psychotherapist

I believe psychotherapy offers some powerful routes to healing and transformation.
Psychotherapy is a space for you to be really heard. A place to share and know you are not on your own. Sometimes it is difficult, or impossible, to share certain parts of our experiences with friends and family. Having a separate, safe and confidential space can be vital and healing.
Psychotherapy is a space where your whole self and all of your experience is welcome. So often we fight our feelings and experiences, believing that they are wrong or weak and we should be different. I believe in creating a space where you can be heard, seen and known just as you are. A space where you can learn about, accept and even love the many parts of yourself, even the parts that seem to contradict each other or feel unlovable. I believe as you get to know and trust yourself, as you begin to accept yourself just as you are, that then, with pressure off, you will be able to grow and change.
Psychotherapy is also a space you can explore and understand how your past might be effecting your present. Often the ways we relate to others and the ways we cope we have learned as a response to the particular situations we grew up in. As adults we can find these ways no longer work for us. Psychotherapy can help you understand these patterns better and can support you to find new ways of coping and relating.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a PGdip in gestalt psychotherapy and I am a full member of the UKCP.
I have worked with NHS clients in short term work, and longer term work with private clients and at a therapy service in Sheffield for women who have suffered abuse and trauma.
I have spent some time working with young people in the justice system.
I studied English Literature at University as I am interested in how stories and poetry can express our humanity. I also have a background in contemplative spirituality where I was part of a team that created quiet spaces for people to explore their inner selves and how they can listen and connect to others. We did this using meditation, drawing, creative writing, music and art.
I explore more ideas around what psychotherapy is about in my blog: https://tesskeebletherapy.co.uk/blog/
I am a member of the UKCP and of the Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute. I abide by their code of ethics.
