Thank you for reading my profile. It is important that you find the right person when seeking support for counselling. It can be quite daunting to talk about yourself and what you are experiencing.
As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I can offer you a safe environment to explore what is troubling you. Talking through your concerns or worries can help you understand yourself better and allow you to move forward with your life. Please do make contact so we can explore how I can help you.
I can offer short term counselling, where we can work through specific problems as well as longer term psychotherapy where deeper issues can be explored, when past experiences can affect and impact on the present.
As a BACP registered Counsellor with over 10 years experience, I have worked across an age range of adults and young people. I have worked with a wide range of issues that include relationship difficulties; low mood and depression; anxiety, stress and panic attacks; self-esteem and confidence; loss, bereavement and life-limiting illness; health problems and medical diagnosis; trauma and traumatic experiences; abuse and assault; self-harm and suicidal thoughts; violence; anger management; eating disorders and body image. I have enhanced DBS clearance and I am fully insured.
Life challenges us in different ways and I would like to help you to work through your experience.
I can help you - to work through a specific problem or talk through a traumatic or distressing event. To support you to work through feelings or inner conflicts - to help make decisions - to explore relationships - communicating with others - to face challenges - to cope with a crisis, a difficult situation - to manage change. You may be struggling with loss and grief - depression or anxiety - in the midst of a crisis or feeling completely overwhelmed - I would like to help. Please contact me and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Working within Education
I have worked with students across an age range for over 23 years within Further Education and for the past 10 years in Higher Education. I have worked at both the Universities in Nottingham and have a wealth of knowledge, understanding and experience of the pressures that Education entails. I can offer support for both staff and students.
Education is recognised as an area that is highly stressful, where both students and staff may face difficult challenges and be struggling to cope. I do understand the pressures experienced in Education and I believe I can help you.
Whether you have just started your journey at University, either as an Undergraduate, Postgraduate or PhD, or you have been studying for a few years now, I understand the challenges that you may face.
I understand the peer pressures as well as the academic expectations – the difficulties and demands to reach your true potential, the struggles to work and maintain high standards and achieve good grades - the disappointments and disillusions that you may experience and have to deal with.
The demands of maintaining a social life whilst managing the pressures of study; the different relationships you develop – your studies, social groups and who you live with; the change of environment, settling in, cultural differences – all of these can impact on you in different ways.
I understand the stresses of time management, how personal issues can impact on your concentration and affect your studies - the consequences on you personally as well as for your future. Not coping or feeling overwhelmed can be a trigger for anxiety, panic attacks and sleep deprivation.
I have supported students with all different experiences whilst studying at University and I really do believe I can help you. Whatever level of education, whether you are a student studying Higher or Further Education or even taking GCSEs. I can assist you with strategies to help you to manage yourself particularly through the pressure points.
I offer one-hour one-to-one sessions and my main therapeutic room is in the city centre of Nottingham and I am also available for one day a week in Mansfield.
