Profile

I guess that as you have accessed this site you are at a difficult, unhappy or indeed a crisis point in your life and really wanting some help to get back on track.

As a
fully trained and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and psychosexual therapist I have helped many people feeling just as you are now to regain the peace in their lives that has evaporated or been snatched from them. I have extensive experience working with both couples and individual clients as well as having worked with clients who are gay, lesbian, hetereosexual, bisexual, transsexual and transgender.

Relationships of any kind can be a struggle at times and many people find that talking in confidence to an experienced relationship therapist enables them to explore their difficulties and find new and helpful ways forward, whether you find yourself at a crisis point or simply want to fine tune that relationship. Often at the heart of relationship problems there are issues around sex and as a qualified and skilled sex therapist I have helped many couples and individuals to achieve a fulfilling and satisfying sex life.

Sometimes there are circumstances or periods in your life when talking to family or friends does not feel comfortable or useful, that is the time when clients benefit from the space provided in therapy to consider their choices.

I can offer you non-judgemental support whether you come alone or as a couple in a confidential,  friendly and safe environment in my discreet and comfortable therapy rooms situated in the heart of the city of Canterbury in Kent with car parking, bus and train stations nearby. This provides you with the space you need to bring some order to maybe a catastrophic point in your life or a difficulty in your relationship.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Since 1996 I have worked with a wide range of clients and their difficulties, both privately, in the NHS and within a variety of specialist agencies and charitable organisations.

My core therapeutic tuition began in Transactional Analysis and I trained for four yea
rs using this model in Sussex. I then qualified firstly as a Couple Counsellor and then as a Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist gaining a Post Graduate Diploma at the University of Hull. I worked in Brighton for a number of years seeing a wide range of clients with an even wider range of issues and difficulties.
I currently work as a Couples Counsellor and Sex Therapist for Relate as well as seeing couples and individual clients in my private practice in Canterbury.

As a relationship and psychosexual therapist I have worked with couples with a myriad of problems such as an affair, issues with a new baby, teenagers or stepchildren, facing problems with elderly dependants, money worries and of course problems in the sexual arena. I have worked with difficulty with orgasm, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, painful intercourse, sexual addictions, lack of desire and many more issues associated with gender and sexuality.

I am also trained to work with addictions, domestic violence, mental illness and survivors of sexual abuse.

My qualifications are:-

Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling and Psychotherapy

Graduate Certificate in Couples Counselling

Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy

My professional memberships are:- British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (
BACP), College of Sexual and Relationship Therapy (COSRT) and the British Institute of Learning Disabilities.

My practise conforms to the BACP and the COSRT codes of practice and the client confidentiality within those ethical frameworks.

I have also worked for many years with adults and adolescents with learning disability and the disabilities of these clients ranged from Pervasive Developmental Disorder through to Autism and Schizophrenia and their ages ranged from thirteen to sixty years of age. Some of my clients had lived in institutional care homes for the majority of their lives and some had entered the care system at a later stage.

I have therefore extensive experience in assisting those clients who have children with a learning disability or a member of their family whose disability is affecting them psychologically or emotionally in an adverse or difficult way.

Therapies Offered

Fees

My fees of £50.00 apply to an initial assessment session and each subsequent face to face contact session.
However where there are financial difficulties these fees are of course open to negotiation.

I see my clients weekly, bi-weekly or in whatever time scale is most useful for them. Each session lasts 50 minutes and
I can work on an open ended basis, within a fixed number of sessions or longer term.

Taking the initial step to see a therapist requires clients to be courageous and bold and when they have taken that step then life begins to change.
