Wellbeing starts from within. So often we attend to the outside view of our lives forgetting the importance of psychological wellbeing. This can affect every aspect of our lives from personal and social through work and play.
Spending time on our psychological and emotional wellbeing can have positive repercussions throughout our lives.
I offer entirely confidential and non-judgemental psychological support through use of a range of talking therapies. When talking alone is not enough I use a range of creative materials to help progress the work.
I work with individuals, couples and parent-child relationships. For individual therapy I work with ages 10 and upwards; there is no upper limit (whatever our age we all need help sometimes). For parent-child relationships there is also no limit.
My practice is non-discriminatory so regardless of your age, race, religion, gender, culture or sexuality you are most welcome.
We will initially talk to decide how to work together and what will best suit your unique situation and circumstances. The number of sessions is entirely led by you and we can discuss what to expect.
Please phone or email me to schedule a free 30 minute appointment so we can talk through what you need and how I can help. The appointment can be in person in my therapy room, over the phone or via Skype at a pre-arranged time.
My practice is in Christchurch and is easily accessible from Bournemouth, Poole, Ringwood and surrounding areas and the New Forest.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and do look through the website for further information.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have qualifications in psychology, counselling, psychotherapy and family therapy. I have trained extensively for an initial two years in Integrative Counselling covering the three main theories of Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and CBT. This is combined with in-depth 4 year training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and a 2 year postgraduate qualification in Systemic Family Therapy along with undergraduate qualification in Psychology. These include:
AQA Advanced Certificate in Counselling, 2008; Graduate Certificate in Systemic Practice Families and Couples, 2014; Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, 2012; Post Graduate Certificate in Intermediate Systemic Practice with Families and Couples, 2015; presently studying the second year of a Psychology degree.
I have worked in a voluntary capacity as a school counsellor in a large comprehensive school for a couple of years and as a counsellor for individuals and couples in a charity setting for a further couple of years. Whilst studying Systemic Therapy I worked voluntarily with families in an NHS CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) unit for a year.
I adhere to a strict code of ethics and am regulated by the professional bodies of which I am a member. The ethical guidelines and practices of the organisations to which I am bound as a member can be viewed via their websites listed below:

You are then able to decide if you would like us to continue working together without making any initial commitment. Any future work and the number of sessions is entirely led by you and what you need but we can discuss what to expect.
Through a process of reflection on my own practice and a balance of personal and professional well-being I ensure my practice is for the benefit of my clients. Although at times I will undoubtedly learn from you too!
I maintain my professionalism and warmth through a number of personal procedures that enable me to be effective and safe in my work.
My practice is run from lovely, comfortable rooms in Christchurch in a private setting that is dedicated to therapeutic work. The rooms are modern and light but comfortable and warm. There is a private waiting room and facilities, together with parking spaces at the rear of the building allocated to the practice.
