Tanya Gardener BSc (Hons), Dip.Couns, Registered member MBACP
Brookenby Community Centre
Hi I'm Tanya and I'm a qualified counsellor. My role is to provide you with a confidential, safe and non-judgemental environment to enable personal growth.
Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk through any issues that you are currently experiencing, exploring thoughts and feelings at the core of these issues.
By actively listening and being attentive to what you are saying, I can gain an insight into your world and together we can untangle any muddled thoughts, feelings and beliefs, helping you to gain a clearer understanding of yourself, life and relationships, empowering you into being a more fully functioning individual.
The counselling process may seem daunting, so choosing a counsellor that best suits you is really important. Our first session together is an opportunity for us to meet, to discuss your needs and hopefully deciding whether we can work together as counsellor and client. You may decide to continue with me or you may decide otherwise.
An individual doesn't necessarily need to be in crisis to enter into counselling. Maybe something doesn't feel quite right and you are struggling to work it out, or you are concerned that you might be heading to crisis point. I am here to support you in unravelling these thoughts and feelings, perhaps working towards finding a solution.
I use an integrative approach, which means I can work using a range of techniques, depending on your needs.
I am a registered member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which is a professional body that represents counselling and psychotherapy and I adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines. I have recently successfully completed the BACP's Certificate of Proficiency, which means my name now features on the BACP's Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and to check my registration, go to www.bacpregister.org.uk
