About me

Sometimes life events can have an enormous effect on our lives. We can feel overwhelmed by situations or as though we are having to deal with difficult issues alone with seemingly no way out. From time to time, we experience events that might keep us stuck in negative behaviour patterns and reduce our quality of life. Counselling can help us to get through those times. It is a unique process that helps you to develop self-awareness and supports you to discover and strengthen your inner resources, empowering you to make changes in life. You are offered to talk about issues that affect your quality of life at your own pace and in an entirely confidential and non-judgemental environment. You will be helped to uncover negative patterns and triggers that undermine your wellbeing and supported to develop new perspectives, strategies and ways to deal with and manage them, so you can live, feel and thrive.

I am fully qualified and professionally experienced to assist you in this process to explore your difficulties in a safe, understanding and confidential space. Whether you feel the need to deal with a particular crisis or trauma or want help with more general issues, I offer both short term focused sessions and on-going counselling. I help with relationship issues, feelings of depression, anxiety, panic, bereavement, work related stress, specific mental health or general loss of meaning. I believe in insight-oriented therapy which will integrate techniques that are tuned to your needs and pace.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and fully comply with its ethical standards and guidelines. My experience includes working for a major mental health facility in Northampton for six years as well as counselling in a North London counselling centre. Currently, I teach counselling skills on a BACP accredited post graduate diploma for Psychodynamic Counselling. I also work in private practice.

My private practice consulting rooms are easily accessible by public transport and very close to free and easy car parking. I also offer sessions via Zoom and Skype.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
