Short term counselling:
Counselling can support an individual with a specific issue and works best when focusing on a goal, for example: stress or anxiety management, how to come out of low mood, work related issues, relationship problems, working with specific life challenges or to gain clarity around a difficulty you are experiencing.
A couple of sessions can often be enough to gain clarity around an issue, and a block of 6+ sessions can provide more in-depth understanding and coping strategies.
Longer term psychotherapy:
Some experiences we have in life cannot be worked through within short term counselling and they require more attention in order to facilitate positive change. Psychotherapy is not limited to a particular number of sessions, and regular reviews will give an indication on progress made.
Having worked in the corporate world for over 16 years as project and general manager I understand what it means to work under pressure towards tight deadlines and meeting targets while also trying to balance all other aspects of life.
I experienced 'burn out' several times until I acknowledged that I needed help to achieve a better work/life balance. Therapy provided me with insight into how I contributed to my stresses, helped me to get in touch with my needs and gain strategies to move forward.
As part of my work in the corporate world I lived and worked in different countries and continents. it required me to adapt and negotiate unfamiliar cultures and work ethics while communicating with colleagues from all over the world.
This and my training in inter-cultural therapy equips me to support individuals who experience challenges or conflict in multinational settings.
