Gestaltinpractice Tania Tuft
Coming to see a therapist can be the first step to change and growth.
It can also feel anxiety producing or risky. Whether you have seen a therapist in the past or are exploring therapy for the first time, work takes place at your own pace, and with support. Thankfully, attitudes to mental health are changing, and the courage it takes to take responsibility for our own well-being is being recognised.
I believe we can all do with getting to know ourselves better, and that being in relationship is about learning what our needs are and how we can meet our own and other's with more clarity and compassion.
This paves the way for communication to improve, and for assumptions to be brought to awareness.
You can contact me by phone or email to arrange an initial appointment during which any concerns can be brought, desired outcome explored, and we can gain a sense of how long you may wish to be in therapy. Short-term therapy is typically seen as 12 weekly sessions.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified and experienced BACP registered Gestalt Counsellor. I have worked for several years with the NHS, for Mind and in private practice, with people bringing a wide range of concerns and painful situations and my approach is both relational and creative.
I have worked with many presenting concerns including anxiety, burn-out, relationship difficulties, depression, identity (including change of life, sexual, age, cultural) and self-value; trauma, and family work including historical family constellations, fertility issues, post-natal depression and overwhelm. I also work with people who have had developmental events or interruptions, such as leaving their family of origin or attending boarding school, which may be impacting their lives as adults.
As well as training in Gestalt and in bodywork, my BA was in philosophy. I have a Diploma in Gestalt and Humanistic Counselling including loss and bereavement; a Post Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy. I am a member of the BACP and UKCP.
