About me

I am a BACP registered Counsellor and I offer professional help and support to both individuals and couples.

I am compassionate and work sensitively with people. My approach is known as Person Centred, which means I actively listen to understand problems causing emotional difficulties. By exploring these, a new perspective, understanding and clarification may be gained to help find answers, or make decisions, in order to move forward more constructively.

My aim as a counsellor is to provide you with an opportunity to talk about your problems, fears, anxieties, hopes or aspirations in a confidential and non-judgemental space. I do not claim to be an expert on your feelings, only you can know how it feels to be you, but I do hope that through offering you a space in which you feel safe, heard and valued you will feel able to open up, explore your feelings and live a more fulfilled life.

I have over 10 years experience in working with young adults aged 18 plus. I have  over 12 years of experience working with individuals. Working with couples is also a great passion of mine.

Assessment:

Research shows that counselling works best when we feel comfortable and at ease with our chosen therapist and that feeling listened to, accepted and understood is really important. For this reason, I offer an initial meeting in which you can experience the way I work and decide whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you. I charge £55 (individuals) and £120 (couples) to secure your appointment.

I have worked with a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, domestic violence, stress and trauma. I offer short and long-term therapy to young people and adults.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Counsellor with a Postgraduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I have also completed an Advanced Specialist Training course in Counselling Children and Young People. More recently (March 2023) I have completed a Post Diploma Person Centred couples training course.

I have been working as a Counsellor since 2011 with two breaks to have my children.

I currently work part-time in my own private practice from my home in Ashton Keynes. I also work for Gloucestershire County Council offering short term counselling support to employees such as teachers, social workers, firefighters, etc.  My previous role was as a Senior Counsellor at Teens In Crisis, an amazing charity in Gloucestershire who offer Counselling to young people aged 9 - 21 years. I moved to Cirencester from London in 2015 where I initially set up my private practice. My past work includes Westminster Kingsway College in Kings Cross, London, Faces in Focus; specialising in working with young people aged 11-25 years and Roehampton University; working with students aged 18 plus. Shortly after completing my training I worked as a Sessional Counsellor for Turning Point - South Westminster Drug and Alcohol Service counselling residents in South Westminster London affected by drug and alcohol misuse.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
