About me

I am a Registered Counselling Psychologist. I completed my doctoral training in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester.  I have worked in the field of mental health for seven years, across various clinical areas (children inpatients/outpatients, adults and families), and I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Child and Family Studies. Currently, I work in a community setting in the NHS as a Psychologist delivering thorough psychological assessments, individual and group therapy to people with significant emotional and behavioural difficulties as well as providing consultations, teaching and supervision to trainees and other professionals. I am very passionate about my role as a psychologist, I believe everyone, regardless of their past or current situation has the ability to make positive changes to enhance their emotional and mental well-being. I am committed and dedicated to helping people who are having difficulties in their lives develop a compassionate and kind understanding of their situation and support them to make the commitment that will lead to positive changes towards enhancing their quality of life.

I have specialist experience in using evidenced based treatment approaches with various psychological difficulties including Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Panic Disorders, Phobias (including social phobias), Post-Traumatic Stress, General Anxiety, Depression, Eating disorders, Addictions, Complex grief and attachment difficulties.

In addition to my doctorate training, I have completed advance training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassionate Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Moverment Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Equally, as an integrative practitioner, I draw on other approaches such as Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Psychodynamic and Attachement theories. Regardless of these therapy modalities, I believe the key to a successful therapeutic encounter is the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist i.e. the shared understanding between the therapist and client about the client's needs. This concept is what governs my practice as a psychologist. At the beginning of therapy my goal is to explore with you; what has brought you to therapy, what is keeping your difficulties going, your hopes, expectations and your goals.

I am able to offer individual and family therapy. I practice from two locations in Manchester:
Withington which is a few miles from the city centre and Whitefield, North Manchester. I am happy to offer 20 minutes, free telephone consultation.
