Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor who has worked in the social care sector for several years. I have a BSc (Hons) in Integrative and Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy and I trained at the Sherwood Institute of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My philosophy is not to give advice or tell you what to do, but to offer autonomy and choice, helping you to find the solution that bests suits you.
I believe that it is our working relationship that is most important in helping you work through what's brought you to counselling. I am committed and passionate about offering a confidential, secure and accepting space for you to explore your feelings without judgement.
I have experience of running creative workshops , support groups for trainee counsellors as well as running wellbeing workshops for young adults in a secondary educational environment. I use creativity and art within my work as I feel the process of engaging in creative expression promotes awareness of self and a healing through use of imagination.
I have experience of counselling students in a higher education setting, working with families who have been through domestic abuse or bereavement and counselling women survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.
Currently I work as a counsellor in private practice working with young people and adults. I also work for Relate, counselling children 8 - 18 years of age. I have trained with The Centre For Child Mental Health ,London. Which enables me to work with play therapy skills, visualisation and art.

I have a warm and confidential room and there is disabled access as well as ample parking.

New clients are welcome and I have day and evening appointments . Counselling is a personal relationship between people and requires mutual trust, openness and honesty. To establish this trust, it is important that we match. I would like to suggest to you a preliminary talk so that we can get to know each other and choose the right direction.
