Profile
I have been a Qualified Counsellor since 1983 and have worked in clinic and private settings in both London and York.
My present role is as a Counsellor and Hypnotherapist based at The Healing Clinic in York.
I offer both Counselling and Hypnotherapy to individuals and to couples.
I work with a wide range of issues, including all anxiety, stress and relationship problems. I also help patients deal with weight problems and smoking cessation; this is through a combination of Counselling and Hypnotherapy. This combination allows the individual to look at a personal problem, understand and clarify it, and reach their own informed decision as to what to do about it.
Positive thinking, regaining confidence and learning relaxation techniques and self hypnosis are all part of this life-enhancing process.
I offer life coaching to individuals and marital therapy for couples.
I am also an experienced supervisor and mentor for therapists of many different kinds of healing work.
Most counselling patients are keen to also learn relaxation techniques so I do have high quality relaxation CD's available to help them continue their therapy at home.
Counselling appointments are available at both City Centre and Village locations.

1973-1976: The University of York: BA Honours Degree in Philosophy
1977-1978: The University of Lancaster: P.G.C.E (Post Graduate Degree in Education).
1981-1983: Westminster Pastoral Foundation, London: Certificate in Counselling
1984-1985: Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies, London NW3.
Certificate in Humanistic and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy)
1987-1988: The National College of Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy: Diploma in Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy
1990: Awarded the: Advanced Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.
2003: The European Certificate in Psychotherapy.
