About me

I provide counselling and therapy in central Cambridge, within a confidential and professional environment. In addition to private practice, I have 18 years' experience working in university counselling services, including St John's College, University of Cambridge.

I am Accredited and Registered as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and have provided counselling and therapy since 2002.

Trained in integrative therapy, I draw from three main approaches: Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).

I offer focused, short-term counselling (typically 6-8 appointments) as well as long-term therapy for anyone wanting to work through more deep-seated or complex issues.

I have considerable experience in working with a wide range of problems. My areas of interest include working with people going through changes in their lives (such as loss, separation, career change or migration). I help people to manage the stages of transition, to cope with the psychological impact of being in a liminal space and to make sense of life’s changes.

I bring warmth, empathy, a non-judgemental attitude and a sense of humour. I can be gently challenging where necessary, while being supportive and compassionate.

I can work with you to explore and make sense of your issues. Understanding is the first step towards making changes. I can help you develop strategies and skills to manage your issues and to find a positive way forward.

It may be that you keep repeating unhelpful patterns of behaving or thinking. I can work with you to identify these patterns, to understand them and to make changes to enable you to start leading a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
