About me

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist trained to work with children, young people and families. I can provide long or short term therapeutic work, assessment and one-off consultations.

In therapy younger children communicate through play rather than language. I provide toys, games, pens and paper which the child can use to express their emotions. Teenagers and young people in their twenties sometimes use art materials to explore how they're feeling and I would encourage this.

At the heart of the work I am trained to do is the relationship between the client and the therapist. From within this relationship, and by beginning to listen to both conscious and unconscious communications, changes can happen. Unhelpful behaviours can be exchanged for healthy ones, self awareness can begin to grow and relationships improve.

Meeting with children, teenagers and young adults I aim to create an environment which is informal and relaxed.

I can provide psychodynamically orientated supervision sessions for therapists working with children and young people.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London and gained a postgraduate diploma in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies then a Masters Degree with distinction in Psychological Therapy with children, young people and families. As well as psychodynamic theory and practice, I was also provided with a grounding in CBT skills, Mindfulness and systemic family therapy.

Upon graduating I worked from 2013 to 2015 in a Tavistock Fostering and Adoption Clinic. In this setting I worked with young children who had suffered early traumatic experiences and disrupted attachments.

I've had 12 years experience of working with children and adolescents at Eating Matters in Norwich. There I've worked extensively with eating disorders, self harm, anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation, poor body image and low self esteem.

Also I currently work for the Pottergate Centre for Trauma and Dissociation and for the Newmarket House Clinic for Eating Disorders.

I am a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council.

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure.
