Looking for a therapist is the first step in your healing process . . . it can also feel like the hardest part. Having been in this position myself, I am aware of how difficult it is to choose from the growing number of counsellors on websites such as this. Which is why I suggest we have an informal chat on the phone, at your convenience, to see how we get on and if we feel we can work together, before beginning.
Change can be challenging and sometimes scary; therefore positive, non-judgemental support and encouragement is essential. In our busy lives these days it is difficult to find someone to confide in who has the time to really listen, without criticism or streams of unwanted advice. I believe the trusting relationship we establish in our sessions is pivotal to the changes you wish to make, and so am keen to create a calm, trusting, respectful and accepting environment for us to work within. I maintain that you, are the expert on you, and I am merely acting as a facilitator. You have the knowledge and potential to transform your life, you just need the right space to free yourself from whatever is holding you back.
I have a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and work one to one. I use a variety of approaches including Person Centred, Solution Focussed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Creative Arts Therapy. I work from a private room in in the middle of Guildford. I have a range of experience and can offer brief or longer term therapy, to suit.
