About me
I work face to face, and on the phone and zoom. This is dependent on the current situation.
I am a trained Psychodynamic Counsellor and also an Attachment Based Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist. I have had a private practice since 1998 and I have my own private and secure consulting room in Isleham which is between Newmarket and Ely. It has disabled access and parking.
I consider the working relationship to be crucial and therefore think of the first session as an assessment of both therapist and client. It is as important that any potential client feels they can work with me, as for me to feel I can work with them.
I do not work to a predetermined number of sessions but between us that is worked out as the work continues. Some people know they want a only a few sessions to address a pressing need such as anxiety, others may feel they want longer work, students have training requirements for hours of therapy and some people may just want to see how it goes. My work is tailored to the individual. As well as working with private individuals I also work with many organisations seeing their employees with work related issues and personal problems.
I run workshops and I have been part of the The Bury Practice for Counselling and Psychotherapy since 2000. I am also a member of The Forum of Independent Psychotherapists and was a past Chair and Director. I am an Accredited member of UKCP.
I am also a Supervisor. I provide clinical supervision for therapists and also for others such as medical professionals, welfare officers, teachers or clergy.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
