About me

My name is Pauliina. I am a British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) Accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist working in private practice in South West London.

Therapy is for anyone going through difficult times, whether this is due to problems in relationships, stresses at work, death of someone close to you, or struggles with health or perhaps having feelings of sadness and anxiety and not really knowing why this might be.

Therapy offers you a space to talk about your difficulties without judgement.Together we can identify the issues that have become problematic for you and think about how they are impacting your life and well-being. We can consider how you currently cope, working through what is and what might not be so helpful. We will explore your strengths and new ways of doing things, enabling you to cope effectively.

In my view, therapy is an intensely collaborative process. Whilst I bring my training, expertise and experience to the process, I am of the firm conviction that you are the expert on you. You do know what is right for you and you do, invariably, know what you need to do in order to achieve your goals. Only you know what things really feel like inside of yourself, what kinds of thoughts you think and what you wish for and desire. I make effective use of your internal processes by combining them with my experience.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 18 years of experience in the therapeutic field working with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, loss and low self esteem. I have wide experience in private practice, NHS services and community agencies. I have a Masters Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am an accredited member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I am also a qualified EMDR practitioner and a member of EMDR Association UK. My practice is based in Putney Bridge.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
