30-32 Worple Road
My theoretical training is integrative and I make use of a wide range of current and relevant psychological models. I make effective use of the relationships I have with my clients; this is done with the firm belief that the thoughts and feelings they have with me will have occurred in other relationships they have (both past and present). My humanistic approach also ensures that the experiences of my clients are taken very seriously; their outlook and abilities are always at the forefront of my mind. I believe wholeheartedly in the transformational power of the authentic encounter. I am influenced by Object Relations and Attachment Theories. I utilise Compassion Focused Therapy and its ideas on shame and self-attack. Lastly, I have good working knowledge of CBT and can utilise these techniques according to the individual needs of my client.
In my view, therapy is an intensely collaborative process. Whilst I bring my training, expertise and experience to the process I am of the firm conviction that you are the expert on you. You do know what is right for you and you do, invariably, know what you need to do in order to achieve your goals. Only you know what things really feel like inside of yourself, what kinds of thoughts you think and what you wish for and desire. I make effective use of your internal processes by combining them with my experience; together we create an environment where your debilitating patterns and thinking can be modified in order for you to make effective changes to your life.
