I am an experienced counsellor offering therapy in the heart of Canterbury. I usually arrange to meet you for an initial consultation so that you can decide if you feel I would be the right Counsellor for you at the moment.
I offer a bespoke service and at the initial consultation I will listen to you carefully and we can then look at how best to work together.
My background in teaching and service management have added to my understanding and appreciation of work related issues such as stress and depression.
I lived in France for 13 years and am happy to work in French if this is your first language.
I can offer supervision for Counselling as well as IPT so please ring to enquire. I am happy to discuss my fee with newly qualified or trainee counsellors.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have spent the last 8 years gaining a vast amount of experience in most areas of counselling. I have been working with clients referred to Counselling and Psychological Therapy through local GP surgeries as well as running a small private practice.
I have worked very successfully with clients who are having relationship difficulties and suffering from depression. I am able to help a client to work through sexual abuse issues, recent or in childhood. I have also managed to support young people and adults who self harm as a way of coping with excess anxiety. Please feel free to ring me for an in depth conversation if you wish to discuss your issues with me and let me explain my way of working.
I have a special interest in students and young people aged 10 to 25 who are experiencing psychological pain involving identity issues, anxiety, depression and self harming.
I first trained in France in Lacanian Psychoanalysis and I had a private practice in Perigueux between 1996 and 2001, and then on returning to the UK I broadened out my approach through studying for an Integrative Diploma.
I am registered with HCPC and the BACP for my counselling and I have a background in Psychology as well as a counselling Diploma.
I have qualified as a practitioner and supervisor for Interpersonal Psychotherapy. I am also able to work using EMDR and CBT.
