I offer individual psychodynamic psychotherapy/counselling to people experiencing stress or emotional difficulties, whether a crisis triggered by recent events, or a repeated pattern of emotional turmoil or unease. This could also be reflected in repeated patterns in relationships, or illness. Quite often, very early experience can relate to present unhappiness, depression or anxiety, and I usually invite a client to reflect on these links, as a way of understanding problems in a wider context, and to separate out past from present. In this way, present difficulties can come to feel more manageable.
I am presently offering psychotherapy for periods of four to eight months.
Training, qualifications & experience
My initial degree is in Psychology and I trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist with The Guild of Psychotherapists, qualifying in 1989, and I have been working in private practice and the NHS ever since. I am registered with the UKCP.
