Profile

I work as a psychodynamic counsellor with individuals, couples, children and young people and their parents. I understand the psychodynamic approach as being concerned  with the influence of the past on the present, the relationship of self and others, and of inner and outer aspects of the self.

As well as working with adults, I am interested in working with the 16 - 30 age group and with parents concerned about their children, whether they are newborns or teenagers. In my experience even a few consultations can make a difference to parent/child relationships. I am happy to see parents on their own to help them think about their children's needs and difficulties or the stresses they are experiencing as parents.

I offer short and longer term work to all age groups.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I trained as an adult counsellor over 20 years ago and have been accredited with BACP since 1995. I achieved senior status in 2000.

I have completed advanced trainings in working with children and young people at the Scottish Institute of Human Relations and supervise many children and young people's therapists.I am an Affiliate Member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists. I also provide training and consultancy to organisations working with children and young people.
I have been an active member of the Scottish Institute of Human Relations since the late 80's and have contributed to many training programmes there.
