About me

I am an experienced counsellor working with both individuals and couples, helping people to think about, to explore and to resolve all kinds of relationship issues.

I believe that the ability to form and sustain a healthy relationship with 'our self' and others is central to our happiness and well being. I have a deep understanding of how the difficulties of acknowledging, accepting and voicing our feelings and needs is detrimental to ourselves and contributes to depression, anxiety and stress. The disconnection we may feel from the people we most want to connect with can leave us with a deep loss and sadness.

My aim is to help you understand the behavioural patterns in your relationship with yourself and others, at times by thinking about the past and how early life experiences and beliefs may be impacting you now.

I will work with you by exploring your unconscious beliefs, values and emotional needs, to help identify what is really important to you. By exploring your current thoughts and feelings you will begin to discover and strengthen your own sense of purpose and identity.

I work with warmth and acceptance, whereby you will feel at ease and safe to be open and honest about yourself and the changes you want to make. We will work at your pace to bring to your life the fulfilment and stability for your deeper happiness.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and adhere to their ethical framework and guidelines.

My experience is working with a range of different issues including bereavement and loss, abuse, trauma, generalised anxiety disorder, relationship problems and many other issues that affect our ability to enjoy life. I am naturally approachable and non-judgemental and offer a safe environment for you to make sense of your current emotions. Working through issues with a trained professional can help free your mind from problems that may be holding you back or causing you stress, anxiety or depression.

Following assessment of your current needs I can offer both a long or short term therapy.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
