I am an experienced transpersonal psychotherapist working near Grimsby, I have worked with individuals, couples and families since 1982. Based in Lincolnshire, I cover the areas of Grimsby, Louth and much of Lincolnshire.
I consider myself privileged to accompany people for a time on their journey while they move through what they often experience as a dark and difficult stage in their lives.
I work to build honest relationships with my clients. My basic conviction is that recognising deep and often hidden thoughts and feelings is essential to discovering who you are. If you can recognise them, you can deal with them and then be free to reclaim your life.
My passion is to help people take control of their lives and to be the fully functioning human beings that they long to be. There aren't any lost causes, as far as I am concerned.
Training, qualifications & experience
About Me - I am a qualified psychotherapist based near Grimsby, Lincolnshire
Originally I qualified as a Social Worker. I was especially concerned with psychiatric and family problems and later on I worked with offenders in the probation service.
In the 1980s I trained at CCPE in London as a transpersonal psychotherapist. My basic outlook is Jungian, but I use any theoretical model that I think will help my patients. I believe in finding the ideas that will help the patient rather than fitting the patient into a theory! My mission is to get the patients well, not to bolster any particular theory.
I work with individuals (both adults and children), couples, families and occasionally with larger groups. I find that problems are rarely limited to one individual and that, if appropriate, working with partners, families and work groups can be creative and healing. I am also committed, where it might help the patient, to working with GPs, hospitals and social services. I am fortunate in that I have a good relationship with most local health workers and our mutual trust is beneficial for our patients. For a number of years I worked for the NHS alongside my private work and found that each enriches the other.
I have extensive experience in court work and in working with statutory agencies including the Home Office. I also work for insurance companies, especially in cases of post-traumatic stress disorder.
I supervise other psychotherapists and I am an external examiner for the institution where I trained.
