Profile
Counselling gives support in private to deal with personal difficulties and is often known these days as a talking therapy. Counselling aims to give you the opportunity as well as the time and the space to discuss issues which are negatively impacting on your life. The idea is to enable you to reach choices and decisions of your own in order to cope with any issues.
Coping with professional and personal difficulties can be exhausting and may take its toll on our ability to function both at work and at home. Counselling can offer a space to explore and gain awareness about your difficulties. It can help you to understand what is happening and facilitate you to identify different choices and/ or coping strategies.
At times like this you can feel isolated or unsure as to how to move forward and it does take courage to take this first step.
As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor I provide a quiet, non judgemental and confidential space to enable you to explore the issues which concern you. I work with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low esteem, sexual and physical abuse, victims of domestic violence, Relationship issues as well as being a experienced young adolescent counsellor having worked in colleges and schools.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I am trained as an integrative counsellor, working from a client-centered perspective, with a belief that everyone has unique characteristics and issues. My qualifications include both a FdA and B.A. Hons in counselling, extensive experience working as a RELATE counsellor having worked with couples and individuals both at RELATE and in a G.P. practice. I also have experience as a school counsellor having worked with young people aged 11 25yrs. Having also trained within the NHS I achieved a foundation skills in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
I would offer you an opportunity, in a safe environment, to explore whatever concerns you may have and help you to find a way to achieve a better understanding of yourself, your feelings, thoughts and experiences. My role is not to tell you what you should do but to help you to empower yourself and make choices that may lead to more fulfillment in your life.
