About me

Welcome to Poole Counselling for Postnatal Depression.

Traditionally, childbirth is viewed by society as a joyful event. The private experience of childbirth in real life is often far from this idealised image, with dauting number of women experiencing low mood and emotional burden.

Poole Counselling for Postnatal Depression is a service that provides a safe, professional, confidentional and non-judgemental space for you and your family to discuss your difficulties with pregnancy and childbirth.

Are you experiencing any of the following

  • Have you experienced a traumatic birth?
  • Are you very anxious or overwhelmed in your pregnancy for whatever reason, and need to speak to someone?
  • Are you or your partner suffering from antenatal or postnatal depression?
  • Have you suffered a loss through miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy?
  • Are you struggling in your new role as a parent/ do you find parenting emotionally exhausting?
  • Is your current relationship suffering because of these kinds of unresolved issues?

You don't have to keep suffering. Therapy can stablise you, reduce your distress and find ways to cope.

  • Online sessions are available via Facetime / Skype - access specialist's care wherever you are.
  • Home visits available : receiving Therapy in your own home - in a comfortable and familiar environment for those who wish to receive face to face counselling and are not able to travel to the therapy centre (conditions apply).

My apporach to therapy

My counselling approach is very sensitive, gentle and person-centred - that is, your issues, concerns, needs and wishes are always placed in the centre of our therapy work.

Whether your case may be about birth trauma, ante/ postnatal depression, anxious pregnancy, relationship difficulties, parenting issues, childhood trauma, or your own attachment issues - I support you to explore your truth and help your real feelings become more accessible, and to reduce the psychological tension that you may be experiencing.

For example, you may be unknowingly conflicted between what your friends and family say how you should be, and what you are experiencing in your pregnancy and childbirth in reality.

Whatever is causing you pain, you and I work as a team to ease such discomfort in order for you to gain some emotional stability and find ways to cope.
