About me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist working near Deal, Kent. If you are looking for help with emotional distress, a crisis in your relationship or other anxieties I may be able to help. When you ring or email me I will respond promptly and offer you an initial consultation in which you will have a chance to think things through in a confidential setting and gain some understanding about yourself. This in itself can bring relief, and can lead to regular appointments that will bring deeper understanding and move you forward in your life.

I offer individual psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

Who is Psychotherapy for?

You may have a current crisis you need help with or maybe the time is right to explore long standing difficulties. To help you think about whether psychotherapy is right for you, as a general guide it is appropriate to consult a psychotherapist if:

You have emotional problems which are affecting your life. Problems can include anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or suicidal feelings.

You have physical symptoms for which there is no medical explanation.

You are struggling to get over a loss.

You are finding it difficult to recover from trauma.

You are worried about breakdown or other mental health issues.

You have an uncomfortable relationship with food.

You are stuck in unhelpful relationships and it feels hard to change.

You find yourself repeating destructive patterns of behaviour.

You feel there's a lack of meaning in your life.

You have problems at work such as wondering if you are in the right job, or are in conflicts with work colleagues.

What happens?

I am trained to listen carefully to your thoughts, feelings and experiences. I will encourage you to explore how you feel and help you reflect on and understand what is going on in your present difficulties. Psychotherapy is an opportunity to look deeply at patterns of thinking and feeling about yourself and your relationships. We aim to change or reduce some patterns which are unhelpful to you.  We will be working towards you having a better ability to understand yourself and other people.  It may also include an increased emotional capacity on which to draw on, giving you a clearer sense of your own abilities, more satisfying relationships and more confidence to face stressful situations.

What next?

If you'd like to find out if my approach will be helpful for you, you can contact me and we can arrange a convenient time for us to meet for an initial consultation. During this first session we can think together about your current problems and you can get an idea of what's involved in therapy.
