Sue Stevens. MBACP (Reg), Dip. Couns.
We can all experience periods when we struggle to deal with the complexities of life - what's happening to us, or around us. Whether as a result of an unexpected event, the build up of emotions over time, or simply a sense of being 'stuck' in a unhappy or unwelcome place, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or anxious . We may also want to understand ourselves better, so that we can be equipped to deal positively with what life can throw at us.
As a fully - qualified counsellor, I offer you a safe, non - judgemental and confidential place in which to share your thoughts and feelings, which can be a valuable first step in the journey towards understanding and change. I work as an integrative counsellor, who can employ a range of different approaches to ensure development of a beneficial therapeutic relationship - including person centred, humanistic, working with attachments, psychodynamic ( working with the past) ,mindfulness ( stress reduction), transactional analysis and play/ sand tray therapy. In short, this enables me to find the most suitable and effective way for us to work together given you personality and life situations .

I have a broad experience base, which includes particular emphasis on the following life challenges:
- Anxiety/ Stress
- Low self - esteem
- loss of confidence
- Suicidal thoughts
- Post Natal depression
- Relationship difficulties and divorce.
I do not view counselling as an advice giving service. Instead, it is an opportunity for you to develop a life enhancing relationship with someone who sits outside of you day - to- day circumstances, brings no - pre - conceptions, but who simply wants to help you find and follow your own path to renewal, fulfilment and happiness .
Counselling takes place in a quiet , relaxed environment that provides you with the time and space to be listened to, reflect and consider your feelings and situation. You are unique, and so are your circumstances and experience - which is why I offer short or long term counselling, depending on your needs and preferences.
