Are you worried about your child or teenager lately? Are they behaving differently or do they seem more distant? Unsure how to approach this? I can help.
I have over 12 years of experience of working with adults, children and young people with all kinds of emotional and behavioural difficulties and supporting their parents and families.
I also enjoy working with adults especially women who are struggling with emotional issues.
Areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, eating issues, body image, low self-esteem and coping with unexpected changes in life e.g. relationship breakdown.
I originally qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2002 and also work as a CPN for a CAMHS team (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). I am currently based in the West Midlands in Harborne. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and am qualified to work with both children and adults. I am a member of BABCP and am currently working towards my accreditation.
What can you expect from me?
Well, most importantly I am committed to working with young people and adults to improve their emotional health and wellbeing. I believe my work is my life’s purpose, something I was drawn to partly because of a number of challenging life events I have experienced through out my life. Therefore, you can expect from me a level of empathy and understanding that cannot just be learned through attending courses or studying textbooks.
In the first session we will explore together what has brought you to the experience of seeking help right now for yourself or your child. This will be done gently and at your own pace. We will see if we think we are a good fit to work together and there is no pressure to continue after the first session if you feel doubtful that I have anything to offer.
I am passionate about my work and continue to invest heavily in my own development and learning so that my toolbox is as well-stocked as possible to help YOU!!
Therapy is guided by a careful and thorough assessment of the individual’s issues and an integrative, holistic approach will be used in therapy sessions.
I also use other approaches such as person-centred counselling mindfulness techniques and Thought Field Therapy where appropriate. You can read a much more in depth description of Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and the other therapies I offer on my website.
