Sue Noakes Registered MBACP
I am a qualified integrative counsellor working creatively and a registered member of BACP
I have many years’ experience working with different people. This includes setting up and working in a Crisis agency, working with people who have all types of dementia as well as with their carers in a support group setting. For the last few years I have worked with an agency that sees clients mainly from GP practices. I also have my own private counselling practice.
I live in Crawley which is accessible to many areas of Sussex and Surrey.
How Can Counselling Help
We can all experience difficulties at various times in our lives and sometimes it can be helpful to talk to an independent person where you can be heard in a peaceful, non-judgmental and confidential setting. Counselling is a journey where we will explore issues together which are either current or from past experiences, helping you to feel empowered to live a more balanced life.
Even if your particular difficulty is not listed below please don't let that put you off contacting me by phone or email to enquire if I do work in that area.
What To Expect
Being an integrative counsellor means I have studied different counselling models and I integrate these in the way I work with you. Central to everything we do together will be the emphasis of the therapeutic relationship which is vital to the counselling process.
Qualified as a Creative Counsellor
Sometimes we don’t know what is troubling us, or if we do, we can’t put it into words. Working creatively helps us to find the words in a more relaxed way.
Working creatively is your choice so if you would prefer not to work in this way then there is always an alternative.
These are some of the types of creative things we could do in our sessions together:
Creative Writing – including journaling, writing letters, story-telling, mind-mapping and time-lines.
Creative Tools – using things like figures, sand trays, puppets, nesting dolls and buttons.
Artwork – including drawing and fairy stories.
Inner-Child Work – we all have different parts that make us who we are, there is an adult, parent and child part within us determining how we think, behave, feel and interact with others. Learning to connect to your inner-child can enable you to accept yourself at a deeper level which can then impact your relationships and environment.
The Next Step
You can contact me by phone, text or email whichever suits you the best. If after this you want to arrange to meet, I will, where possible, give you an appointment within a week. This initial appointment is mostly an assessment and will last up to 75 minutes it's where we can discuss what has encouraged you to seek counselling now and to look at your counselling needs. It's also where we can consider if we'd like to work together.
If we are both happy to work together an appointment will be made to start counselling. Each session will last for 60 minutes and where possible we will keep to the same time and day each week. At the moment I have more daytime appointment available than evening ones.
I work in a confidential way and we can discuss what this means when we meet.
Like others in the profession I have regular supervision and am committed to Continuous Professional Development which keeps me aware of current practices and new ideas. I am insured and have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service, it used to be CRB).
