About me

I offer a free initial 30 minute consultation where you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you and if the space feels right for you. During this session I aim to understand the concerns which bring you to counselling, to explain some features of the counselling I offer and to explore the possibility of working together.

All my clients can expect a safe and private space where I provide a non-judgemental, empathic and genuine approach. You can explore personal pressures, emotions, concerns or whatever brings you to this point of choosing the right support for you.

I offer Long and short-term face-to-face work as well as ‘Time-limited ‘therapy.

A common barrier to seeing hope in the possibility of ever being able to cope with the present, or make difficult choices for the future is knowing that you can not change past life events.

It is possible to make sense of difficulties, experiences and emotions and I can offer an opportunity to explore these things in a safe and  trusting environment and at your own pace.

I understand the challenge of finding the right space for you and respect the importance of this to every individual. It is important to me that you find what is right for you. If taking the step to get in touch feels like a giant leap of trust, you are not alone. I look forward to hearing from you without any obligation.

Alternatively if you prefer please email with your telephone number advising a suitable time when I can call you ****** I look forward to hearing from you.

As a Counsellor for over 13 years I have a broad range of experience gained from both private practice and working within counselling services for both Adults and young people.

Having worked for over 40 years in people management roles I have a wealth of experience with the many and varied issues which can impact on family life, relationships, employment, health and well being, stress, bereavement and our ability to cope. Importantly I have learned how different this is for each person as an individual.

My priority is always to work safely and ethically within our relationship regardless of how long or how brief that may be. While some areas of counselling I deal with are listed below, please know that you are not designed to 'fit a box' and it is impossible to list all possible reasons why you may be looking to take this step to find the right support for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
