About me

Hello I'm Stuart,

Are you finding life a struggle at the moment? Do you need someone to listen to you without judging you or trying to fix things for you? Anxiety, stress and depression can really effect and ruin life at times. Through counselling you can learn to understand your feelings and manage anxiety and take back control of your life.

I work with people of many different backgrounds so please get in touch as I'm sure I can help. I also have an interest in helping parents with sen Children as I have a child with global developmental delay and I understand you can only grasp how difficult(and rewarding) it can be raising a child with additional needs if you have experienced it. Unfortunately parents rarely get the support they need.

I have successfully helped people with depression, relationship difficulties, Aspergers(ASD), Children's play therapy, low self esteem, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, anxiety, stress, anger management, addiction, couples counselling, gambling addiction, bereavement, Seasonal affective disorder, and many of life's other difficulties.I Myself have survived 5 strokes and understand the difficulties of living with an invisible Brain injury.

Epictetus, in the first century, said: "Men are not disturbed by things, but by the view they take of them". CBT says that it is not the event which causes the emotion (and our behavioural reaction) but the meaning we give that event - or what we think ABOUT that event.

I appreciate how difficult it can be to take that first step and take back control of your life. If you are an anxious person then making that first phone call can sometimes just be too much, so if its easier for you please feel free to contact me:

Who am I:

Hi I am Stuart  I am a BACP registered counsellor with over 10 years experience,  I run a private practice in the town of Nantwich, Cheshire. We are living in ever-changing times and I offer in-person, video and telephone consultations.

I work in a confidential non-judgmental way in which we together work to enable you to move forward and to achieve your true potential. I do this job because I enjoy helping people change and empower themselves to; let go of their pain, take control of their anger, change their relationship and become who they want to be. I believe everybody has the ability to change and grow and still find it so inspirational when clients turn their lives around and become the people they have always wanted to be.

It may not easy to change, but all you need is time, patience, support and to believe in yourself.

I am here to offer you that support and understanding without judgment and to do this I use an integrated therapy approach using Person-centered/Cognitive Behavioural therapy to enable you not only the space to be heard but also the tools and techniques to help you make the changes you need.

And I like who I am thank you, thank you, thank you."

What is Individual counselling?

A counsellor is trained to listen with empathy (by putting themselves in your shoes). They can help you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings that you may have.

Counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing pain or making you feel uncomfortable. It can provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and to explore difficult feelings. The counsellor is there to support you, hear you and respect your views. They will not usually give advice, but will help you to find your own insight and understanding of your problems.

How many sessions does it take?

As I am a private counsellor sessions are only limited by yourself. I suggest you keep coming while you think its helping and eventually you will no longer feel the need to come each week. However People often pop back for a few sessions after a long break. You are in control of how many or few sessions you require.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
