About me

About Me

I am a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist, specialising in helping people suffering from depression and/or anxiety related problems (such as panic attacks, worry, phobias, trauma and stress) using a range of evidence based psychological and talking therapies.

I have over 15 years experience working therapeutically with clients suffering from a range of psychological and relational difficulties in the North East of England, and prior to that, I worked at a brain injury service in my home town of York, providing psychological support to those suffering from traumatic head injury and support for their families.

Since 2011, I have also been a clinical supervisor for newly qualified Clinical Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists studying on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Newcastle University.   I also teach several sessions for Newcastle University's Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

I am also active in public speaking events and seminars, where I work to reduce the stigma of mental health problems and increase access to talking therapies, as well as running groups to improve psychological wellbeing.

How our sessions work:

  • First appointment to discuss your difficulties, and check that we want to work together
  • Following this, weekly sessions generally work best, but this is negotiable depending on need and your availability
  • The number of sessions is entirely up to you (though most clients report feeling better after 4-5 sessions)
  • Appointments are available during the day, in the evening and at weekends, and face-to-face or via Skype/Facetime
  • You are welcome back anytime should you feel the need for more counselling or therapy at a later date - this is entirely up to you.
