Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always got…
I am a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist. What that means is that I'm able to introduce a variety of psychotherapeutic traditions and theories into my work. I'm an Addictions Specialist. This comes from both experience and research.
Reaching rock bottoms – emotionally or physically, or a combination of the two – is a term commonly used when it comes to addiction. These rock bottoms are different for all of us. I like to use the analogy of an elevator. The elevator symbolises a descent into addiction. You can get off at any time: the second, first or ground floor. You don't have to go to the lower ground floor in order to get off. The key is to acknowledge that you're on a downward trajectory and to reach out for that button and stop the elevator. That's the choice you now have.
If you want to get off the elevator – or to stay out of the elevator – I am here to help you.
Recovery from addiction is about so much more than simply stopping. It's about finding a way to face the challenges of life without resorting to substances or behaviours to change the way we feel.
