About me

As a qualified, integrative therapeutic counsellor, I provide a nurturing environment in which themes and issues can be explored safely. My overall goal is to enhance client's sense of well-being and ability to thrive. I view each client as an individual who is seeking assistance in finding their path. I am comfortable working conventionally or with more spiritually orientated tools such as Psychosynthesis and/or Law of Attraction.

My counselling can provide professional help with issues such as:

  • anxiety, confusion and/or frustration
  • depression
  • low self-esteem
  • anger
  • panic attacks
  • body image issues
  • sexual issues
  • identity issues, social anxiety
  • parent or family issues
  • relationship problems
  • work conflicts
  • addictions

I have lots of experience working with people of all ages. This includes those with Aspergers (or borderline), ex-homeless people and those struggling with addictions.

As a client you will experience me as a therapist who is committed to their work. I am focussed and attentive while being friendly and non-judgemental. I place great value on the client-therapist relationship and view this as the facilitator of the therapy.

I work mainly face to face but am happy to offer sessions using skype or phone-calls. My rates are affordable and I am open to negotiating rates if appropriate.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework.

If you are considering counselling please contact me and we can arrange a trial session.

From recent clients:

'I found Steve to be a kind and caring counsellor who created a space where I felt comfortable to explore areas of my life in which I had struggled. I always felt listened to and valued by him. I now feel more able to accept myself, and am more confident in situations which I had previously found difficult.
After 2 years of counselling the bond which grew between us means a lot, and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending him'

'I had sessions with Steve for 11 months, attending weekly, then fortnightly and monthly by the end. The sessions proved to be truly invaluable. I learnt so much about myself and my relationships with others, and had my mind opened to ideas of self-worth and self-esteem that had been elusive to me before. Steve created a comfortable, understanding, non-judegmental environment that allowed me to work through so many thoughts and feelings with his guidance. He was perceptive and intuitive and I’m really grateful for the support I received at such an important stage in my life.'

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
