About me

Experienced UKCP Clinical Psychotherapist and Supervisor.  I offer short and long-term psychotherapy including NICE recommended EMDR therapy for individuals and couples with a wide variety of emotional and psychological issues including trauma related difficulties, relationship and family problems, depression and anxiety.

My approach

I offer a safe, confidential and empathic space to explore your feelings, beliefs, thoughts and experiences.  I work integratively and relationally using my knowledge and training in different psychotherapeutic approaches to meet and understand your personal situation and needs.

Along with the space and support therapy offers there is also the opportunity to explore how we relate to people and ourselves, what we each bring to relationships and the patterns we can become stuck in.

I will work with you to help increase this awareness providing the opportunity for reflection, change and more conscious decision making.

Research consistently finds that it is the therapeutic relationship which is at the heart of therapy's effectiveness - I work with this strongly in mind.

What next?

It's natural to feel a variety of emotions before beginning counselling/ psychotherapy.  Initial sessions offer the opportunity to meet and begin to talk about what brings you to therapy and look at what you may want and hope for. Here there is the chance to address any worries and ask any questions you may have about the process of therapy and begin to experience how the sessions will work.  Collaboration is very important in the therapeutic relationship – I hope in this first session you will begin to experience this and how our work together can progress.

If you have questions, concerns or would like to book an initial exploratory session you can contact me via e-mail or phone and leave a message.  I will attempt to get back to you within 24 hours.

After graduating in Psychology I worked as a mental health project worker supporting clients day to day with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and personality disorders.
I also worked in educational settings supporting children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Both these jobs and personal experience led me to psychotherapy and the belief that given time, space, intent and the right qualities of relational experience we can effect change within ourselves.

As a counsellor I've worked within the NHS for South London and Maudsley Healthcare Trust seeing clients referred for short term counselling for a wide variety of difficulties.  I currently work with long term psychotherapy clients in a low-cost referral service and have a private practice in South London, North West London and Central London.

Through this work I have a wide experience of working with varied issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
