About me

Hello and welcome. It is normal to experience stages in life where it seems to make no sense, perhaps events feel overwhelming and life seems impossible to navigate. Alternatively relationships may be problematic or recurrent patterns of behaviour are negatively affecting everyday life. People find their way to therapy for many different reasons and it takes courage to make the decision.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and trainer with many years experience. My approach is to work alongside you, assisting you in making sense of your current difficulties and helping you to find clarity and a way to move forward. Coming from an Integrative approach means that I can draw from a range of therapeutic approaches. This enables me to engage with you in a way that will be most effective and tailored to best suit your individual needs. Psychotherapeutic sessions can be a space to talk through these themes. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental and safe environment so different issues can be explored.

People seek therapy for different reasons. You may want to explore better ways of coping with old problems, or try to see different possibilities in your relationships, life or career. You may also be going through a difficult emotional time in your life, and facing these situations, alone, can be quite challenging. No issue is too big or too small; the issue is how you are feeling and knowing you want to change this. Some of the areas that I work include: depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, panic attacks, relationship problems, loss and bereavement, trauma, sexual abuse, rape, sex, sexuality, cultural issues, psychosomatic problems, eating disorders etc. The therapeutic relationship is key to helping change evolve and I believe that working together we can explore your experiences and work through the difficulties you are facing.

I offer one to one or couples counselling and psychotherapy to adults and young people from 16 years old.

Before opening my private practice I spent 3 years providing therapeutic support for Cruse Bereavement Care. In this position I was responsible for assessment of clients before allocation to a counsellor and the research, writing and delivery of ongoing training to all workers who offered support of behalf of Cruse Bereavement Care. I was responsible for interviewing candidates who wished to join the organisation and delivered the Awareness in Bereavement Care course which each supporter is required to pass before working with clients.
I also spent 3 years working for Nottinghamshire Woman's Aid. Along with providing counselling I was also responsible for assessments and delivery of the Freedom Programme to service users.

Today alongside my private practice I work for a local counselling agency offering counselling, psychotherapy and training to the public and other therapists. As part of my work for this agency I offer counselling for an employee assistance programme

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Key details

Wheelchair user access
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

My office is on the ground floor of the building for wheelchair accessibility. There are toilets on the ground and first floor. If you have any other needs please let me know so I can arrange/provide before your arrival.
