St Albans City And District Bereavement Network
31 Catherine Street
We are a local charity providing bereavement support to anyone living in and around the St Albans district regardless of race, creed or culture. We have been established for almost 15 years and each year, we:
- Support 1500 callers through our helpline
- Provide in excess of 5000 hours of counselling support to adults, families, young people and children
- Advise many professionals, organisations and carers
Helpline – our Helpline is the first point of contact for anyone looking for emotional support after bereavement and we can be contacted either by telephone 01727-841841 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Assessment – everyone wanting support is invited to attend an initial assessment with a qualified clinician to talk about their experience and give us an opportunity to understand how best we can help them. If we feel the person’s wellbeing is better met elsewhere, we will try our best to refer the person on to other more appropriate service providers within our network.
Counselling Service – our one-to-one counselling service is designed to help our service users to work through their own grieving process with the support of professional counsellors. We offer affordable counselling up to 20 weekly sessions.
Telephone support – our telephone support service helps bereaved service users to access help if they have limited mobility, if they are waiting for their counselling sessions to begin or if they prefer to receive support via the telephone.
Visiting & Buddy Service – a listening and support service for bereaved service users who prefer to be supported at home and who require help to broaden their social horizons following bereavement.
Children’s & Young People’s Service – working in partnership with local schools and parents offering age-appropriate interventions and activities to help children and young people aged 5-16 years express their emotions and enhance their resilience in dealing with death.
More information about our charity can be found on our website www.sabn.org.uk.
