About me

I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) registered Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist offering psychotherapy in Acocks Green, Solihull and Kings Heath, where I provide short, medium and long term therapy. I draw upon an extensive body of evidence based psychological knowledge in my work in order to help you deal with your problems and understand yourself better. This means I will use therapies and methods that have been scientifically shown to be effective. Every person is unique and therefore therapy is adapted to the particular experience and needs of the individual.

I provide a safe space to help you deal with a wide range of problems. I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society as an Associate Fellow and am Health Care Professions Council registered, with degrees in Biology and Psychology.  I worked in the NHS for 15 years in various specialties including adult community mental health teams, specialist psychotherapy services, child and adolescent mental health care services (CAMHS), and GP surgeries. I have a broad and in depth knowledge of working with people with a wide range of problems I have also worked in voluntary sector organisations and with people referred to me by their GPs. I have now left the NHS and work independently in Private Practice.

I am trained in a number of psychotherapies, in particular EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which has a strong scientific evidence base for helping people with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder); but is also effective in helping people with phobias and anxiety. I am also trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Psychodynamic Therapy) - both are also very effective in helping people who have experienced trauma, particularly attachment (or childhood) trauma, relationship problems, anxiety and depression.

I work with adults with a wide range of problems such as anxiety disorders, generalised anxiety disorder and panic, phobias, relationship issues, depression, personality issues, bereavement & loss, anger problems, low self esteem, trauma and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), issues from childhood (attachment problems), past childhood abuse, sexual abuse, bullying. I also work with couples using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) an evidence based and well researched therapy designed specifically to help couples deal with their relationship problems, based on attachment theory.

I also offer Clinical Supervision to Clinical Psychologists and Psychotherapists.
