About me

Entering counselling can feel like a daunting process but at this very moment you are taking the first steps towards creating the changes you wish to see in your life whether you are looking for help with a specific issue, or for personal growth.Counselling offers you the opportunity to break down walls, un-bottle hidden emotions and make sense of feelings and experiences that are troubling you.

I offer one to one, short and long term, counselling to Adults and Young People in a quiet, central location in Wokingham and online.

The relationship that is built between Counsellor and Client is integral to the therapeutic process; creating a good working relationship is the glue that holds the process together. I aim to offer a space that you will feel safe in to explore any issues that are troubling you, or if you want to work on your personal development. I will meet you with empathy, unconditional acceptance and bring myself into each session to create the environment in which therapeutic change can occur.

The therapy that I offer is based around gaining awareness, for I believe that with true self awareness we can overcome any obstacles that we face. Through the exploration of the past, present and the future, with an emphasis on how it is affecting you in the here and now you can begin to break down unhelpful coping strategies and discover a path that is of your own choosing.

I am accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that I have demonstrated that I am an experienced and ethical practitioner and I have signed a register agreeing to abide by the standards for ethics and good practice set out by the BACP and I follow the BACP ethical framework for good practice to ensure that I maintain safe and ethical practice.

I offer the space and time to explore any issues that may be affecting your well-being in a confidential and secure setting. My aim is to create a safe and contained space where you can explore your difficulties; my experience is that we can often keep things bottled up for a long time without an outlet for our emotions. Through counselling you can allow yourself to express and understand these emotions in a non-judgemental environment.

Youth Counselling

Adolescence is a time of great change and the pressure on young people today, whether it is to achieve academically or the social pressure to conform, it takes its toll on a person's well being. I have had the privilege of working with many young people from the age of twelve, supporting them through this time.

Through my work I have seen the struggle that many young people face in the transition between childhood and the adult world and I aim to offer a space where they can explore the issues that are troubling them. It has been my experience that it is sometimes difficult for a young person to express themselves through words alone and therefore I have a wide range creative materials that can enhance the therapeutic experience for both adults and young people, including painting, drawing, toys, sand, shells and stones.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
