About me

Do you feel you have done all you can to move past your problems by yourself?

Do you feel you might need clarity, confidence and coping strategies to move forward?

About me

As an experienced psychotherapist, I am able to develop a nurturing rapport and offer you a safe, contained space we all need at times, to be able to do that.

It is my fundamental belief that with this tailored empathy and understanding, people feel able to express their concerns and allow for opportunities within their lives for positive growth and fulfilment.

I therefore decided to train as a psychotherapist and use my passion in helping others make sense of their thoughts and behaviours, assess choices and feel empowered to confront change.

How I work and can be of help to you

I pursued a particular career in integrative psychotherapy to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the research and theory behind a number of different therapies as opposed to only one to be able to uniquely tailor my skills to one's own needs and goals.

I can support you from a structured and pragmatic approach with cognitive-behavioural therapy, from a person-centred stance to allow you to gain self-awareness and process your problems at a more deeper level, led by yourself and with attachment theory to help you understand how you may relate to others.

As part of my training I completed a course of personal therapy to help me gain self-awareness and acknowledge how each of the modes of therapy I use, can be applied.

Training, qualifications & experience

BSc psychology (with certificate of social placement)
Pg certificate, diploma and masters in integrative counselling and psychotherapy

Training and experience

I have used my knowledge to work generically in counselling and treatment centres locally to help people with generalised and social anxiety, panic, depression, relationship issues, phobias and low self-esteem/confidence issues.

More specifically I have gained experience through:-

* Offering CBT for depression and anxiety disorders within the NHS
* Offering substance misuse counselling and problem gambling support in a local addiction service
* Being a volunteer counsellor in a domestic abuse refuge
* As a grief counsellor for cruse bereavement care
* Offering counselling as a youth worker
* As a counsellor in schools with children aged 7+ across the East Midlands

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellor and Psychotherapists (BACP) and ensure I adhere to their ethical and professional code of practice at all times.

I am committed to continuous professional development to enhance my knowledge and skills in all areas of therapy, have regular supervision and indemnity insurance.
