About me

Hi my name is Simone, thank you for viewing my profile. People usually seek therapy because they have reached a crisis point in the lives. Life can sometimes feel confusing, lonely, difficult and really overwhelming and perhaps at these times in our lives we experience feelings that we are unable to cope with alone and are not sure why? It may feel as if there is no one to turn to without fear of judgement or to help you understand how this may be affecting your mental health and emotional well being. It is times like these we can often experience life feeling like we are in survival trying to be the person we ‘should be’ instead of living as the person we truly feel we were ‘born to be’. Whether it’s a temporary phase or unresolved problems from the past the counselling process can offer many benefits. Over time it can help you make sense of your feelings and emotions leading to greater personal insight and self awareness enabling long lasting changes. My aim is to provide a reflective and collaborative reparative space in which to explore such issues or difficulties to promote internal understanding leading to a more fulfilled and content life.

I am a (BACP) British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy fully qualified Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and have over 9 years experience working with in the NHS sector, Counselling agencies and private practice. Being an integrative therapist means I don’t adhere to one specific counselling model but draw from several approaches including Cognitive Behavioural therapy and Psychodynamic, humanistic, transactional analysis and person centred theories. I am particularly informed by Attachment Theory as a way of approaching clients early life bonds and experiences and the consequent current difficulties in our relationships with others and most importantly ourselves.

As I believe we are all unique individuals this allows me the flexibility to adapt my working style to suit your own needs and issues. I have experience of working with adults, children and couples from different backgrounds and cultures with issues such as depression, anxiety, sexuality & sexual orientation, phobias, psychosis, addiction, sexual abuse, relationship issues, domestic violence, grief, loss, low self-esteem, eating disorders, anger management, work related issues, self harming and ADHD/ Autism

The relationship between you and your counsellor is paramount so please feel free to contact me for an informal chat to discuss confidentially any requirements or questions you may have with no obligation and together we can explore if counselling is right for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
