Simon Phelps BA(Hons), MSc, HND, MBACP
80 Beach Road
I am a professionally trained and qualified Humanistic counsellor. I work with children, young people and adults and am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP).
My approach is based upon Humanistic theories around respect for the individual and their autonomy. Establishing a genuine counselling relationship is central to my way of working. I use a range of approaches within my work depending on what the client needs. I work with a flexible and creative style.
I have had a very broad and varied experience of life. I believe this gives me considerable personal insight and allows me to empathise with many of my clients individual reasons for coming into counselling.
Previous clients have considered me to be a very grounded individual with a warm, solid presence and a good sense of humour. I can be gently challenging where necessary while being highly supportive and compassionate.
I have worked with a wide range of clients and have provided long term complex counselling support as well as short term focused work. I have undertaken a considerable amount of personal counselling and continue to work on myself and undertake training as part of my on-going professional development.

If you think you would like to arrange an initial meeting to see whether you feel that counselling with myself would be right for you then call me and we can arrange a suitable time. At this meeting I will explain to you the counselling process and if we both feel it will be beneficial we can arrange regular weekly sessions.
